Re: Conventions and Whatnot
I personally love conventions, because I only have a handfull of friends at school that even know what I'm talking about, not to mention be a fan of it as well. So conventions allow me to hook up with fellow fans, talk about series, get advice on cosplays and stuff. Basically everything I do on forums like Gaia, but have it be a face to face conversation. Oh, and I also go or the Raves. I like to Rave, but now-a-days it's just too dangerous to go to random ones unless you really know the people. I mean, they've always been associated with drugs to some extent, but now it's just ridiculous.
There are plenty of 1 day conventions where you can get all your anime gear for a good price. (Like the Anime Day ones in Florida) Longer ones like Mega Con have one day tickets so you can go, hang out, meet new people, see the sights, etc etc, but can go home to the real world at the end of the day. Plus if you're really into voice actors and artists, they always have a gabble of them there. I think Stan Lee was at this past Mega.

Ahh ha. I'll probably get dragged to one with my circle of friends one day, but it would be around here near Chicago.

Youmacon in Detroit Michigan is the one I go to. It's at the end of October. This will be my third year! It's been a blast!
